Inventory 'GL Verified', 'GL Mismatch' and 'Awaiting closing stock' explained

What the badge next to Inventory GL / COGS GL on the Inventory dashboard compares, and how to clear a mismatch.

What the badge compares

  • Perpetual (you track stock per item): the Inventory GL balance is compared with the value of your tracked items (quantity × unit cost).
  • Periodic (purchases are posted straight to the Inventory GL, no per-item stock): the ledger balance as of the latest month-end is compared with the closing stock you entered for that month. Purchases made after month-end never cause a false mismatch.
  • Awaiting closing stock: no closing stock has been entered yet, so there is nothing to compare. This is not an error.

How to clear a mismatch

1. Open More Tools → Inventory → Month-End.

2. Enter the total stock value from your stock count for the month (normal currency units, e.g. 2,500,000).

3. AkountFly posts COGS = opening stock + purchases − closing stock automatically and the badge turns GL Verified.

4. Still mismatched? Hover the badge for the exact variance, then check the Transactions tab for purchases or journals posted to the Inventory GL that should be elsewhere.
