Track inventory: transactions, items and month-end
How the Inventory page works: transactions posted to your Inventory account, item-level stock, costing methods and month-end closing stock.
Open More Tools → Inventory (route /inventory). The page has three tabs:
- Transactions: every journal posted to your Inventory GL account (default 1200), each with a breakdown status and a Provide Breakdown action.
- Items: your item-level stock register with quantities, unit costs and valuation.
- Month-End: enter closing stock to drive the COGS calculation; past entries can be edited or deleted.
Stat cards at the top show Inventory Value (GL), COGS (Period), Transactions and Pending Breakdowns.
You can choose your costing method at the top of the page: Weighted Average Cost (WAC), FIFO (oldest stock sold first) or LIFO (newest sold first).
Step-by-step
- 1Open Inventory
Sidebar → More Tools → Inventory (in the Operations group).
- 2Review transactions
The Transactions tab lists everything posted to the Inventory GL for the selected period. Rows without an item breakdown show a Provide Breakdown button.
- 3Check your items
The Items tab shows each product's quantity on hand, unit cost and total value.
- 4Close the month
On Month-End, enter your physical closing stock value. AkountFly computes COGS as Opening + Purchases − Closing.
You can edit or delete a closing entry later: the linked adjustment journal is corrected automatically.
