Sign in with Face ID or fingerprint on the phone app
Turn biometric sign-in on or off, manage enrolled devices, and understand the difference from App Lock.
Signing out explicitly switches biometric sign-in off on that device until your next password login. Sessions on the installed app last up to 30 days; in a browser they last 24 hours.
Step-by-step
- 1First sign-in
Sign in with your password once on a phone that has Face ID / fingerprint set up. Biometric sign-in is switched on for that device automatically.
- 2Next time
When your session expires you see the Welcome back screen with 'Unlock with Face ID'. Use it, or tap 'Sign in with password'.
- 3Manage devices
Settings → Security & Privacy → 'Sign in with Face ID' toggle. Below it, 'Devices with Face ID sign-in' lists every enrolled phone; tap the bin icon to remove one.
- 4App Lock is different
'Require Face ID on open' (same card) locks the app every time you open it while still signed in. You can use either, both or neither.
