Complete the tax setup questionnaire (and what your answers change)
A short questionnaire per country switches on the right tax rules. Toggles left OFF count as 'No' - you never have to flip a toggle to move on.
Settings → Tax → Tax setup (or the yellow banner on Home) walks you through 3-4 short steps: registrations, business profile, sales and purchases. Questions are country-specific - a US business picks its home state and nexus states from full state names (California (CA)), a UK business answers about VAT scheme and CIS, a Nigerian business about VAT position and WHT.
Yes/No toggles: a toggle you leave off means No. It is never marked Required, so you can continue without touching it.
What the answers drive: the default VAT/WHT treatment and AI suggestions in bank feeds, invoices and bills, payment schedules and the Annual Tax Computation. They do not remove any manual control - the VAT and WHT dropdowns, the WHT panel on bills and the WHT tab in Tax Remittance stay available in every country.
Bank-feed processing and document creation stay locked until the questionnaire is finished, so the engine never posts with half the rules.
