Track projects and see profit per project
Create projects, tag invoices, bills, bank transactions, payroll and special items to them, and view per-project P&L columns.
Projects let you tag income and costs to a job, contract, site, client engagement or any initiative — and then see a Profit & Loss for each one.
Setting up projects
1. Go to Settings → Projects.
2. Click New Project, give it a name (names are unique) and save.
3. You can also create a project on the spot from any project picker — just type the name and choose Create "…".
4. Archive a project when it ends; archived projects keep their history and can be restored.
Tagging transactions
Projects are optional everywhere — anything untagged simply shows under Unassigned.
- Invoices & Bills: pick a project for the whole document, or set a different project per line item.
- Bank transactions: open a transaction in the Transactions Center and choose a project in the edit panel. If the description contains exactly one project's full name, we auto-select it and show a sparkle "Auto-matched" icon — you can always change it.
- Manual journals: set a project on the journal or per line.
- Loans, fixed assets, prepayments, investments: choose a project when creating the item — every future automatic entry (depreciation, amortization, interest or rental accruals) inherits it.
- Inventory usage: pick a project when recording supplies usage.
- Payroll: assign a project to each employee (profile drawer → Project, or when adding the employee). Every payroll run then splits salary and employer-cost expenses per employee project automatically.
Reports
- Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow accept a Project filter — you'll see tagged activity only, with a banner reminding you that untagged items are excluded.
- On the P&L, switch on Columns by project to see one column per project plus Unassigned and Total — the columns always add up to your full P&L.
Good to know
- System-generated entries (tax accruals, FX revaluation, billing fees, transfer pairs) intentionally stay Unassigned.
- You can't change a project tag on a transaction that sits in a locked period — unlock the period first.
